Abstract

Project Summary This is an application for an administrative supplement for equipment purchase on an existing R35 NIH grant, “Tuning Multivalency for Optimized Ligand Presentation” (R35 GM138296). The supplement funds will support the purchase of a Hamilton Microlab STAR liquid handler. The Microlab STAR is an automated liquid handler that can be programmed to perform high throughput experimentation in well plates. This equipment is intended to replace an outdated and unreliable liquid handler in the PI’s lab. It was purchased in used condition at a laboratory equipment auction in 2017. Though we do not know its exact age, we know it is at least 10 years old and possibly 15-20 years old. Given its age and heavy daily use, the instrument is becoming increasingly unreliable and in need of replacement. For more information, see Research Strategy.
