Abstract

2. ABSTRACT – COORDINATION SECTION The Coordination Section will provide multidisciplinary scientific leadership for the BCM/Rice Genome Editing Testing Center. The Section will leverage the multi-PI group’s experience leading large research programs and expertise in mouse genetics, model development, and resource management; somatic cell genome editing technologies; and genome editing testing approaches in mouse to coordinate all administrative and scientific activities of the Center. The Coordination Section, led by the Center multi-PI group and overseen by the Center Steering Committee, will harmonize the workflows within and between the Center’s sections. This will be aided by implementation of Standard Operating Procedures and an internal Center communications strategy in the first year of funding. Meetings of section working groups, all center staff, and the Center Steering Committee will be used to review section operations, review and select genome editing testing projects for the Center, and track project and milestone progress. The Coordination Section will implement outreach strategies to facilitate public relations, project management tools and communication strategies to facilitate customer service, and metrics to evaluate the quality of Center services and impact on biomedical research. Finally, the Coordination Section will organize External Advisory Board (EAB) site visits and will be responsible for implementing corrective measures identified by the EAB.
