Abstract
Dosimetry and health effects of internal radionuclides We propose to organize a one-day conference âDosimetry and health effects of internal radionuclidesâ as a satellite meeting for the 17th International Congress for Radiation Research (ICRR) that will be held between August 27 - 30, 2023 in Montréal, Québec, Canada. Considering the appeal of this international meeting, we believe that we will be able to attract both high caliber speakers and scholars in training just entering the field to our satellite conference more easily. The conference will be broad in scope â exploring topics covering the processes leading to possible internal emitter contamination, fate of different radioactive emitters in different forms after they enter in the body, biological and medical effects of such exposures and possible mitigator strategies to alleviate or reduce such effects. Funds are requested for speaker fees and the meeting is envisioned as a series of 20-minute talks by senior investigators and 5 minute talks by graduate students and postdocs. These speaker fees could be used by the presenters to offset some of their travel costs and allow them to attend this conference about a complex and important topic that remains understudied.
