Abstract
PROJECT SUMMARY/ABSTRACT The purpose of this administrative supplement is to support Dr. Wangâs transition from a mentored career development K01 award to research independence in the face of her upcoming critical life event. This supplement support will help ensure continuity of Dr. Wangâs research during this critical juncture in her career by providing funds to support a statistical coordinator. Together with funds from the parent award, this statistical coordinator will be available on a full-time basis to help Dr. Wang with phenotypic and genetic data management, manipulation, and analysis during and following her planned time off and amidst her increased caregiving responsibilities. This extra support is particularly important for Dr. Wangâs project, which primarily involves secondary analysis of high dimensional datasets and requires considerable expertise to be moved forward. This supplement support would come during a sensitive time in Dr. Wangâs career and thus would have a meaningful influence on her retention in biomedical research and transition to full research independence. Indeed, she will be preparing to submit her first applications for R01 funding during the supplement period. Dr. Wang will benefit from additional statistical effort towards manuscript submissions and plans for a successful R01 submission and transition to an independent research career.
