Developing IL-18 inhibitors to mitigate /treat radiation-induced acute gastrointestinal syndrome in a partial-body irradiated mouse model

Abstract

IL-18 plays important roles in radiation-induced GI injury. Blocking IL-18 using IL-18 binding protein (IL-18BP) or small molecule drugs will mitigate radiation-induced GI injury and improve animal survival in a partial-body irradiation with 5% bone marrow shielding (PBI/BM5) model.
