Wagner Lab: New Space Activation

Abstract
Our lab does almost all work in vivo, using microscopy, electrophysiology, optogenetics, and related techniques, whereas the lab space we inherited was used for in vitro work. The renovation included two phases. In the first phase: two small rooms used for in vitro work were converted into rooms for in vivo two photon microscopy and physiology; in addition, the open lab space was partially renovated via countertop, shelf, and desk replacement. This phase was completed in the fall 2021. In the second phase, a cold room is being converted to a behavioral training room; an open storage room is being converted to a surgery room; and another storage room is being converted into a third room for in vivo neurophysiology and microscopy. This phase is ongoing with construction having begun in July 2022. Related lab space projects included temporarily converting one room in a separate building to a satellite lab facility for in vivo microscopy and surgery. This was to handle the requirement that all of our mouse lines be rederived due to the prohibition on importing mice into the vivarium where our primary lab space is located. This process is nearly complete as of summer 2022.
