Abstract

In FY22, the IRF-Frederick focused most research efforts on SARS-CoV-2/COVID-19 studies. This included in vitro testing of antibody therapeutics and development of nonhuman primate and hamster animal models of COVID-19 to support medical countermeasure efficacy testing and pathogenesis experiments. The IRF-Fredericks imaging capability has provided a unique, quantitative readout of lung disease in COVID-19 progression in these models. In addition, the IRF-Frederick has continued to support a large number of academic, industrial, and NIH-intramural research program collaborators through established core capabilities, including clinical imaging, pathology, molecular virology, and clinical study support in Western Africa.
