Abstract

The project with Steve Kleeberger continues related to the possibly role of nuclear and mitochondrial variants in broncho-pulmonary dysplasia, based on a study of preterm infants carried out in Buenos Aires. Work with Ann Marie Jukic produced a paper on CRP levels as a biomarker for stress and possible effects on fecundability, based on the Time to Conceive study that was carried out by Anne Steiner, who is now at Duke. The study of autoimmunity using NHANES survey data explored time trends and determinants of anti-nuclear antibodies and found strong evidence that the prevalence of those antibodies has been increasing in the US over the past few decades. The paper with Miller that was published in MMWR reviewed the public-private response to the Covid-19 pandemic and described the testing results across age groups and demographic categories across the US. Results from a study of phthalate exposure and pregnancy complications suggest that phthalates may be a preventable risk factor for preterm delivery.
