Abstract
This year, we published a study on the contributions to the fidelity of nuclear DNA replication in yeast of polymerase selectivity by the three major polymerases involved in replication, DNA polymerases alpha, delta and epsilon, the ability of DNA polymerase epsilon to proofread replication errors on the leading DNA strand, the ability of DNA polymerase delta to proofreading replication errors intrinsically and to extrinsically proofread replication errors on either strand tat are made by any of the three replicases, and importantly, the ability of mismatch repair to correct replication errors on both strands. Collectively, the data reveal that both DNA strands are normally replicated very accurately.
