Abstract

In the past year, we generated and analyzed spatial transcriptomics data generated from young, middle-aged, and old mice. We discovered both known and novel differentially expressed genes. For example, we verified increased expression of previously reported age-related genes C4b, Apod, and Serpina3n. We further identified a set of aging markers not reported previously, that we are currently following up on. Gene ontology (GO) analysis of genes differentially regulated in the aging brain, additionally revealed neutrophil accumulation in the aging hippocampus as would occur in inflammed tissues and in disease states such as Alzheimer's disease.
