Abstract

Nurses are vital members of our health care workforce. Faced with challenging ethical issues in practice, nurses routinely make difficult ethical decisions. This study is a survey of practicing nurses in 4 U.S. states (Massachusetts, Maryland, California, and Ohio) representing different regions of the U.S. The survey will build on findings from a survey of 1215 nurses and social workers conducted in 2004, and take into account the impact of the COVID pandemic and other changes over time. The survey will assess ethical issues faced by nurses in their practice, their moral distress, work environment, and well-being.
