Vaginal microbiome seeding and health outcomes in Cesarean-delivered neonates: a randomized controlled trial

Abstract

During the Fiscal Year 2022, sponsorship of this trial was transferred from the Inova Health System to the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases. After site activation, the trial was reopened after a 2 year pause due to Covid-19. New staff members were trained and enrollment into the trial has restarted. Initial early life microbiome data between treatment arms has been analyzed and shows a difference in microbiome structure and composition between treatment arms (manuscript submitted).
