Abstract

NCATS Inxight Drugs is a web resource that aggregates curated, reliable drug development data from multiple public sources, all in one place. This open-access and easy-to-use online portal is designed to help researchers obtain the data needed to repurpose or advance drugs to address unmet medical needs by: 1) Listing all prescription and over-the-counter drug substances approved in the U.S. as well as those withdrawn from the U.S. market, drugs marketed globally, and investigational interventions; 2) Supplying manually curated and thoroughly referenced data, such as pharmacological actions, targets, treatment modalities, indications (both approved and off-label), pharmacokinetic properties, and sourcing information for over 25,000 drug substances; 3) Providing the context for the medicinal use of drug substances, including their synonyms, molecular targets, pharmacology, diseases and other conditions, and corresponding marketed products. Currently, NCATS Inxight Drugs provides rich information on over 125,000 substances, and IFX obtains valuable user feedback from NCATS DPI collaborators. The NCATS Inxight: Drugs database was launched in 2018 and has been highly accessed by the community with more than 600,000 visitors since January 2021.
