Abstract

This MOU seeks to describe a framework of cooperation between the Parties to support the development and issuance of a solicitation to develop robust microphysiological systems (MPS), led by BARDA?s Division of Research, Innovation, and Ventures (DRIVe). The solicitation will support the development of advanced in vitro platforms that recapitulate components of the human lung and immune systems and their interaction. Projects will focus on engineering 3D in vitro human microphysiological lung and immune system tissues on a single platform, with in-line sensors for continuous tissue monitoring, and utilization of platform materials suitable for automated manufacturing. Resulting platforms will act as adjunctive and predictive tools in the drug development process. Solicitation requirements and details will be described in a format consistent with executing an Interagency Agreement (IAA) between Parties with objectives and roles of each Party defined. The solicitation document to be released to the public will be issued by BARDA.
