Abstract

The purpose of this contract is to complement the Center?s for Disease Control?s (CDC?s) existing COVID-19 pandemic activities by assessing the risk of re-infection compared to novel infection with SARS-CoV-2, comparing the likelihood of symptomatic disease associated with repeat versus novel infection, and comparing the severity and duration of COVID-19 observed in previously infected versus uninfected groups of adults. To accomplish these aims, CDC requires a contractor to establish a prospective longitudinal cohort study for one year, consisting of adults with serologically confirmed prior SARS-CoV-2 infection and adults without existing antibodies to SARS-CoV-2 implying an absence of prior infection.
