Abstract
The Translational Addiction Medicine Branch (TAMB) was created in 2020. Under the leadership of Dr. Leggio, the creation and development of the administrative, management, clinical and scientific infrastructure, goals, and vision of this new Branch continues to progress. Early efforts have been focused on creating a strong foundation (human, space, and material) to support TAMBs research mission. This has included the active recruitment for a Staff Clinician, the dual support and management of AP support staff and new office allocation for all TAMB staff ((19) offices in total, (3) study procedure rooms and (1) storage room) following NIDA Space Committee approval to provide a more cohesive and collaborative workflow respective to individual duties and responsibilities. The TAMB teams are conducting basic science work, in-patient and outpatient human clinical research and/or large survey and online studies at the National Institute on Drug Abuse Intramural Research Program, Johns Hopkins Bayview campus, Baltimore, MD. Collaborations with the other Branches of the NIDA IRP, with the NIA IRP on the Bayview campus, IRPs on the main campus (e.g. NIAAA, NIMH, NHGRI, NIDDK, NIMHD, and others) and with academic Centers continues to be key to the mission and vision of the TAMB teams.
