Abstract
The protocol has just been submitted to the IRB and thus is in the initial stages of review. Once there is IRB approval, we will mine the My Chart medical records at NIH for all patients who underwent septal myectomy for symptomatic obstructive hypertrophic cardiomyopathy. Once the list is compiled, we will use all available means to reconstruct whether subjects are dead or alive and age of death aided by the Social Security Death Index (SSDI) and LEXIS NEXIS and other similar search engines, and survival data will be compared to gender and age-adjusted mortality statistics from the general U.S. population for the same time period.
