Abstract

Viruses are known to affect human health by altering host immunity and leaving a unique molecular footprint during infection, which makes the interplay between the human virome and the host a crucial molecular window reflecting the pathogenesis of human chronic diseases including cancer. The CCR Human Virome Core has successfully developed and implemented a standard operating procedure, including a pipeline from data acquisition to data analysis, for an emerging technology called VirScan. This technology allows comprehensive profiling of individuals' serological responses to all known human viruses including over 200 species and 1,000 strains of human pathogenic and non-pathogenic viruses at the epitope level. Currently, efforts are aimed at establishing the core, including hiring personnel.
