Abstract
The focus of this year was the presentation of this body of work for the 2021 OREF Clinical Research American Academy of Orthopeadic Surgeons. A paper has not been accepted by the Journal of Orthopeadic Research Our findings have assisted in refining prospective screening tests for ACL injury risk, developing ACL prevention programs, and reducing the incidence of NC-ACLI. Preventive strategies are based on reversing the faulty, straight leg landing position by teaching athletes to land like an accordion on the toes, with the knees flexed, and the chest over the knees. A systematic review of ACL injury prevention programs summarized that ACL injury prevention programs had a significant protective effect and reduced injury rates by 53%.50 Efficacious ACL injury prevention programs included plyometric, strengthening, and agility exercises combined with feedback on proper landing technique.
