Abstract

We continue to develop and test our mathematical models of human metabolism and body weight dynamics. Based on our mathematical models, we created a prototype personalized body weight management system that includes patented tracking and feedback technology (US Patent No 9,569,483; assigned to the National Institutes of Health). This new system is targeted for use by professionals and is designed to be integrated into a comprehensive healthcare or wellness program. We have also used our mathematical models to evaluate the plausibility of reported weight changes in response to obesity interventions. Finally, we have initiated a project using the IAEA doubly labeled water database to evaluate our mathematical model of human growth, energy metabolism, and body composition dynamics across the life course from birth to old age.
