Abstract
This project is to design and construct a temporary, single-story, modular facility to house the CARD program until a permanent space becomes available on the Bethesda campus. The 24,000 SF facility will support BSL-2 laboratories, laboratory support areas, a breakroom, breakout areas, huddle spaces, conference rooms, and both open & enclosed office spaces. It is anticipated that science and analytic research spaces will require more than 50% of the useable area with the remainder being applied to the other building functions, such as offices. Once complete, the facility will ultimately house a combination of approx. 130 intramural scientists, visiting researchers and administrative staff. This facility is currently under construction and scheduled to be completed February 2022.
