Abstract
The Multiplexed Gene Analysis Core (MGAC) allows Cancer Center members access to emerging technologies for high-throughput often are associated with considerable infrastructure, cold with considerable infrastructure, cost, quality control and/or complexity, making them difficult to establish in individual laboratories. In addition to providing technical resources for both basic and translational cancer research, the Core also will facilitate integration of the large data sets often obtained from utilizing these technologies into the investigators' research program. Currently, the Core has invested in commercially produced oligonucleotide array technologies (Affymetrix GeneChips), directed at gene expression profiling. The GeneChip Facility already has produced expression profile data for more than 30 different cancer-related projects being conducted by funded Cancer Center members. A centralized resource that will allow investigators to collect, organize, and analyze large gene expression data sets is now currently in development. In the future, other technologies for mutation scanning and proteomic analysis will be developed and supported.
