Abstract

The purpose of this study is to determine if inhaled nitric oxide will be beneficial in the treatment of sickle cell pain crisis. The hypothesis is that inhaled nitric oxide will modify the hemoglobin S red blood cells and reduce platelet activation and aggregation resulting in a reduction in pain.
