PROJECT SUMMARY (See instructions); The PI will serve as the Director of the Administrative Core. The current Administrative Core of CCRTD Is composed of a scientific director, manager of administrative services, an assistant program manager and a senior staff assistant. It serves as an intermediate between the cancer researchers and the bureaucracy of the University. The main objectives of the Administrative Core are a) to provide leadership and focal point for organization of all activities of the proposed Center of Excellence; b) to serve as a medium between the components of the proposed Center of Excellence and NIMHD; and c) to provide financial management, purchasing and other administrative services to the faculty and staff of the proposed Center of Excellence. We will utilize current advisory committees to oversee the activities of the center. These are the Institutional Advisory Committee (lAC), the External Advisory Committee (EAC), the Local External Advisory Committee (LEAC), and the Community Relations Advisory Board. The Core Director will oversee all day-to-day administrative responsibilities of proposed center which include implementing the policies of the program after consultation and guidance from the lAC, EAC and the LEAC. The Administrative Core is designed to maintain a strong and seamless communication with members of CCRTD and their research staff. The administrative staff provides scientists with the services of post-award management duties such as establishment of University budget accounts for each grant, processing purchase requisitions for each grant. Interacting with the staffs of the Offices of Grants and Contracts, Research and Sponsored Programs, and Purchasing and Accounts Payable and preparing monthly budget printouts for each scientist.
